Life is not easy for anyone. Every human has to go through the phases of childhood, youth, middle age and finally old age. Many things that happen to us in life are because of what we do. It is up to us to make the best of what life offers us. The secret of living a long life is to stay young at heart.
It’s important to learn new things every day, and your yearning for knowledge should never end. There are more important things in life other than your opinion of yourself. It’s easy to learn when you are young. You don’t know anything. If you get the urge to walk somewhere, you need to learn to tie your shoes. If you want to get places faster, you need to learn how to drive a car. If you want to have money to finance your eating habit, you need to learn how to make a good impression in a job interview. It’s one natural learning experience after another. John Perhaps, the most important principle to stay young at heart is to have a good sense of humor. Humor is not jokes. Humor is the perspective. Perspective is what makes it possible to be okay with the fact that you can’t run marathons anymore. When you were young, you were able to do more things each year. Now things are closing in on you. It hurts to have things taken away. The one thing you’ve got going for you is that you’ve been around long enough to have come to at least a dim recognition that it’s all a gift anyway, so the right attitude is to be happy for the things they haven’t yet taken away. That’s humor. That’s perspective
Whether its life, love, marriage relationships or success, try not to take anything too seriously. Life is far too important to be taken too seriously. Middle age occurs when you are not too young to take up golf, and too old to rush up to the net. Realizing what you cannot do is just as important as knowing what you can do. When you accept that you are growing old, age will just be a number for you. It will help you to be more realistic about your goals.
Staying young at heart requires taking on new challenges, ones that test you as much as the challenges you have now mastered tested you at an earlier stage of life. The best that those of us trying to hold onto a bit of our youth can do is to hold onto the sense of excitement that comes from facing a challenge and overcoming it. It’s got to be a real challenge, one appropriate for our age.
Remember, life is just too short to waste your time on trivial matters. Michael Jordan said, “I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life, and that is why I succeed”. Never be afraid to try. Only when you try will you know whether you can succeed or not. Failure is not when you fall in the game, it is when you fall and do not rise up. Fret not on silliest things in life. How do we know it is silly? Well everything that is putting a worry on your face is silly and can be ignored. To stay young you need to think young and be positive each and every single day. Being young doesn’t mean you need to become a kid. But you can do all that a kid does when you think you cannot. By doing what you enjoy keeps you young at heart and also importantly love yourself for every little thing you do in life, Remember to tell the person in the mirror how much you love her (or him.)
Youth is just a feeling and a nice phase for most of us here, Age is just a number and it is not that we are literally growing old. It is just our skin and cells grow to make us look… Different. But the point is do we really age inside us?? Yes, we become more responsible and do a lot of things like buy a house, raise a family, we cook, we clean, drive etc. We change who we are on the outside. We style our hair, change our clothes and choose different activities.
Youth is not a title that is earned, only lost. It is forgotten at the bottom of a well that wishes were once made. It is buried underneath the paperwork of due dates and deadlines. It is pushed aside by responsibilities, errands, time management.
If you open up inside you can see it. A spark of imagination. A series of wonder and excitement ready to burst like a seed planted in the dark soil that is your inner child.
Youth is inside you. It has never left. Being young at heart means knowing how and when to have fun and when not to have fun.
And believe that YOUth is inside YOU, too. Don’t be afraid. You just need to let it out.
