Before talking anything about dreams, let us know what actually dreams are. Dreams are basically the imaginative thoughts that are woven upon our desires. Now dreams may be sensible and they might be the non-sensible. We always have dreams and without them our life is so hollow. As small kids, we use to have foolish dreams; dreams like owning a chocolate factory where we could have lots and lots of chocolates everyday and nobody would be there to keep an eye on us; dreams like being able to fly one day just like birds and butterflies do and so on. These dreams may seem to be quite non-sensible ones but little do we realize that it is these dreams that are the building blocks of what we want ourselves to be in life.
“Dream or else somebody will hire you build theirs is the famous lines by one of the greatest entrepreneurs India has ever had, Mr. Dhirubhai Ambani. Most of us do have some idea about his life. He was not born with a silver spoon in his mouth; still this man never stopped dreaming and the fruits of his hard work, dedication and the power of his dreams is visible to everybody, i.e. ‘Reliance Industries.’ He started with a very small scale firm but slowly and gradually went on to establish one of the biggest business empires of the country.
The life of Dhirubhai Ambani also teaches us that it is no harm to dream big. You need huge bank balance or wealthy ancestral lineage to pursue your dreams; some people do hold this kind of opinion but if Mr. Ambani would have thought in the same manner, I am sure Reliance Industries would not have come into existence.
When I say you do not need money to fulfill your dreams, I may sound to be idealistic. Though money is required but money is not as important as your courage to dream big and having a strong belief in your dreams. Money is a secondary thing I would rather say because until and unless you dream and work hard for achieving it, you will not be able to fulfill it. Now this reminds me of the very famous lines which says, “Believe it you can and you are halfway there.” This statement seems to be quite apt as well because more than physical actions it is the moral strength that is required to work. All great men did not become great in a day; they worked hard for it and never lost faith in themselves and in their dreams. Eleanor Roosevelt once said, “The future belongs to those who live in the beauty of their dreams.” We can see this in real life also, the successful ones are the ones who dreamt big and did not give up on them because dreaming is an easier but real test starts after it in the process of fulfilling it.
Now, the issue that arises here is that not everybody achieves their dreams in life. So what happens to them? The other people hire them to fulfill their own dreams. For many of us today, getting a job in one of the best firms would be what we consider success but just give it a thought, that firm is somebody else’s dream and by working there we are just helping the person in achieving his dreams and in return he is paying us for that. It is good to help others and it is through social interdependence that we achieve our dreams but that does not mean that we stop dreaming and let go our dreams thinking that they would never come true. Dreams will come true if we have courage to pursue them and it is not just a statement it does take a lot of courage because the path that leads you to your dream may be filled with a lot of obstacles and in many of the cases those impedance may be your near and dear ones but you will have to emerge and strong willed person because once you achieve what your dream for, you become content and it is the satisfaction that we wish for ultimately.
Dreams are not mere imaginations that are woven in your sleep and forgotten thereafter; they actually act as a source of illumination in your journey of life. They are actually an indication of what you want to be in your life and what god wants you to do and this is the reason why all of us have different dreams. It is often witnessed that people excel in the work if they do it with all heart and soul and what would be better if that work is your dream job. Being a dreamer myself, I understand how beautiful and fun it is to dream good things in your life and how much does it hurts when your dreams are shattered.
The main reason why we are afraid to follow is that we have learned to compromise with our dreams. We are satisfied with whatever we receive and do not starve for the better. Life does not give everybody an opportunity to pursue their dreams; it rather tests everybody and then the people who stipulate all the tests are given the opportunity to live your dreams. We should never ever let anybody not even ourselves destroy our dreams and should never compromise with our wishes. To conclude believe in your dreams for they are reason for your survival on this earth and never ever lose hope for;
“All men dream, but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds, wake in the day to find that it was vanity: but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act on their dreams with open eyes, to make them possible.”
