Recently I have been pondering a lot on questions about life like “what is the meaning of life?”, “Am I really satisfied with my life ?”, “Am I really doing justice to my life?” and the long list of question continues… After going through a lot of random yet extensive search of quotes , articles , biographies , life experiences all I could decipher was that we just have just got one life and we have to live it the way we dream it to be.
From the day we are born till the day we take our last breath, we are made to learn that it’s all about chasing . Those who chase their goals get the real happiness in their lives and the rest lag behind. The moment we get into the race we all start running… we all keep running after good grades, making more money, and trying to be more attractive so that we can be happy in the coming future. But we never slow down and take a break to think for a moment “will the day of satisfaction ever arrive?” You and I in fact each one of us knows that this chasing our goal thing is a continuous cycle and it never really going to stop. The little goals and ambitions that we dream of like getting good marks, great colleges, better salary and a big house are nothing but a superficial list of goals. The moment our entire superficial goal list gets fulfilled we randomly choose new goals and again set out to fulfill it. In this continuous process of chasing somewhere sometimes we get stuck up in places we dislike. It may be a bad relationship, it may be a not so satisfying job or whatever the situation might be instead of sorting things out and moving on to a better place we simply buy into negativity and fake illusions around us .We hold on to the past stick to the pain we cannot forget or forgive as a result of which frustration, anxiety, depression takes hold of us. In this entire process of chasing after money to make a comfortable living we completely forget our inner being. Our real hopes, aspirations and passion takes a back seat in the money making process. We forget where our real happiness lies; we forget where our true potentiality lies, to be more precise we forget who we are.
Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop to look at it once in a while you are going to miss it. So it’s quite the right time that we take a look at our lives and ask ourselves the simple basic question “are we really happy the way our life is?” and if the answer is no then it’s time to restructure our lives because it’s never too late to begin again. It’s time to restructure our way of thinking and living. It’s time to restructure how we live, how we want to prioritize our lives, how we want to contribute to our society, how we want to deal with each and every precious moments of our lives that we are blessed with, because once we discover our mission we can feel its demand which will fill us with enthusiasm and a burning desire to get to work on it.We all are just one small adjustment away from making our lives work. So why not do it rather than cursing our lives….
Life is one big canvas and you are the one responsible to fill it with all the colors you can.A life where you don’t struggle to follow your passion is a life not worth living. Primarily success in our society is assumed to be possessing large sums of money, achieving lots of name and fame. But we forget that success is not all about money it is also about achieving something that we desire. Something that means more to us than money. This logic may be applied to our work. Making money is just a reasonable goal but being satisfied and passionate about the work we do is what real success means and such persons are the ones who are said to be successful. As Bob Dylan has once said “what’s money? A man is a success if he gets up in the morning and goes to bed at night and in between does what he wants to do” and Franklin De Roosevelt equally said “happiness is not the mere possession of money; it lies in the joy of achievement, in the thrill of creative effort”.so happiness and success surely does go hand in hand. If you are passionate about your dream then you have to protect and fulfill it so that happiness and success both comes along your way.
Our past is a ghost and our future is a dream. All we have is now. Go confidently in the direction of your dreams and live the life you have imagined because a few years from now you shouldn’t be disappointed by the things you didn’t do then by the ones you did do, so throw off the bow lines, sail away from safe harbor and catch the trade winds in your sails.
