Be Your Own Kind of Beautiful

Beauty is not about having a pretty face. It is about having a pretty mind, a pretty heart and most importantly a beautiful soul. People always say that it is inner beauty that matters and not outer beauty. However, this kind of a thought reflects superficiality. If beauty did not matter, why would flowers be liked across the world? Why would flowers put so much energy into attracting bees? Why would raindrops transform themselves into a rainbow after encountering the sun? Why would hailstones be in such perfect shape? Why would the grass be so green? All this occurs because nature craves for beauty and is all pervasive and beautiful itself. Natural beauty is perhaps the best form of beauty on earth. Nature is satisfied only when beauty takes form. Outer beauty is inner beauty made visible through the light of our eyes. Our eyes are the mirror of our soul and reflect all the beauty that seems to be hidden inside. It does not matter if someone dresses poorly or does not conform to our notion of beauty and elegance. Some people might just not care about impressing other people. What matters the most is the manifestation of the beauty of our soul through our eyes. The eyes also reflect the person looking into them. If someone with a dark soul looks at your eyes, he will find only ugliness and not beauty. Beauty indeed lies in the eyes of the beholder.

It is not necessary to conform to somebody else’s idea of elegance in this fickle world. Beauty is god’s creation and is therefore all pervasive. It is present in all creation. If somebody says, “You are ugly” do not let your self confidence whither. By letting your self confidence slip, you will become ugly and embittered. Be comfortable in your own skin. That is what beauty really is. We often allow ourselves to get influenced by what other people think. We tend to deny our own beauty because others cannot or do not recognize it. Instead of accepting ourselves as we are, we try to imitate others. We try to be what other people think of as ‘pretty’. All this leads to the weakening of our own soul. The world is what we imagine it to be. We must not live by others’ definition of the world and its beauty.

All the beings created right from the sun, moon to the mountains and birds are beautiful as they reflect the magic of creation. Let the sun inside your own soul shine forth. Do not let others define who you are. You are fine as you are. Do not try to imitate others as being original is the best form of beauty that one can have. God made you unique and different. Do not spoil his efforts. We try to reflect what comes from outside forgetting that the brightest light comes from within.

be your own kind of beautiful

Marc Jacobs once said that he always finds beauty in things that are odd and imperfect as such things are much more interesting. This is indeed very true. It is the imperfect that astonishes and attracts us. A sunset is always more beautiful when it is covered with irregularly shaped clouds because only then can it reflect many colors. The giraffe looks beautiful with its long neck and the cactus is beautiful with its spines. The irregularity of the mountain peaks is what make them imposing. The colorful skin and the elegant movements of the snake command respect.

Beauty is not the mere amalgamation of good looks and elegance. Beauty goes far beyond that. Beauty is that smile on your face, that twinkle in your eyes, the elegance of your gait and the joy and happiness that you hold within yourself. Happy girls are in fact the prettiest. Make up can only make you look beautiful on the outside. Nothing beats being original and being your true, beautiful self. Nothing can help if you are ugly on the inside. The beauty of body is ephemeral and superficial. The beauty of the soul is true, pure and everlasting.

Look for the good in others and your eyes will become beautiful, speak a few words of kindness and your lips will become beautiful, lend a helping hand to the needy and your hands will radiate exuberance. The knowledge of beauty is eternal. Just find the best possible balance of your mind, body and soul. This will take to you places as beauty is only skin deep. It is okay not to be perfect. Beauty is in fact a light in the heart and not in the face. Our own beauty is of no use if we cannot see the beauty in others. God gave us eyes and heart to see the beauty in others. Be your own kind of beautiful. Just have fun and smile.

Life is full of beauty. You just have to open your eyes and take a look. Notice the bumble bees, the beautiful flowers, the small children and the smiling faces. Feel the wind and the raindrops on our face. Just in case you need reminding, you are beautiful!
