I Keep six honest serving men , they taught me all I knew. Their names are WHAT and WHY and WHEN and HOW and WHERE and WHO.”
The mentioned six question words lay the foundation of our very own sustenance as they clearly underscore the importance of knowledge in our lives. In-fact it is the knowledge that helps us know about – what are we supposed to do in our lives and why do we need to do, when to do, the right procedure required(how), the right place(where) and who needs to execute(For instance a STUDENT needs to execute his study plans, a BUSINESS-MAN needs to execute his work-plan etc). In our day to day lives, where we encounter new situations everyday and which demand our quick response and decision-making, it is the facts and experiences about that particular situation which helps us taking the right decision, and these facts and experiences are nothing but our knowledge. In-fact it would not be an exaggeration to say that the entire civilization lingers on the power of knowledge. A man of knowledge earns more respect from his peers than a man of war. Undoubtedly, the pen has always been mightier than the sword.
There have occurred many incidents in the history which proves the above stated fact. Many rulers came and fought against the English regime in India, but it was only Gandhi under the leadership of whom we sought independence. What was the thing that distinguished Gandhi from those brave and mighty emperors? It was only through his profound knowledge by the virtue of which he drove on the road of success towards freedom.
Knowledge is good. It does not have to look good or sound good or even do good. It is good just by being knowledge. And the only thing that makes it knowledge is that it is true. It is one of the most precious commodities that human beings have. But, unfortunately many of us fail to realize its importance. Life is short, like a bubble and we must take good care of it and make best use of it and this can be achieved by building up a deep reservoir of profound knowledge which can be used to rise to life’s highest ideal and live within a heavenly mansion filled with all that is good, joyful and vital. In the absence of appropriate knowledge , you are lost like a mariner without a compass , one who eventually sinks with his ship.
As every dictator uses religion as a prop to keep himself in power, similarly all the great personalities this world has seen, used the power of their knowledge to heal the world and ultimately helped it become a better place for you and for me and for the entire human-race.
We all want fame, success, happiness, and prosperity, but only a few are able to achieve this, because only they make the best use of their experiences i.e knowledge. If one does not know to which port one is sailing, no wind is favorable. As for example, if a farmer does not have an idea about the nature of soil he is reaping, it would not bring him desired results and ultimately his effort would go into vain. Similarly, being a student in Civil Engineering does not guarantee the fact that I would be a successful engineer unless and until I acquire a sound knowledge of my subject, otherwise the buildings I would construct, the bridges I would build, would surely be short-lived in their existence or they may even collapse!
Knowledge maybe categorized into different types. For a student , his/her text books are the source of knowledge, and thus account for educational knowledge on the other hand for saints, prophets, it is the spiritual knowledge that matters. Where educational knowledge helps you in raising the standards of living, availing better career opportunities and sets the foundation for a bright future, spiritual knowledge actually helps you to profoundly influence the quality of your life and the lives of all those you touch. It focuses on the fact that The Purpose Of Life Is Life of Purpose. It helps you to discover and then realize your lifework which brings lasting fulfillment. In a nutshell, it helps you find the secret of eternal happiness and the abundance flows through your life and all your desires are filled with ease and grace. It is not achieved through bookish knowledge. It is through the power of spiritual knowledge. The basic difference between theoretical knowledge and spiritual knowledge is that where theoretical one helps us to move forward in our lives, spiritual knowledge acts as the driving force behind our existence.
Miracles are seen whenever one combines both the types (educational and spiritual) knowledge in a balanced proportions.
Swami Vivekananda, Gautam Buddha are the names of such extraordinary souls who understood the essence of the knowledge, and the rest is history.
Unfortunately there are only few people who believe in the power of knowledge. Now-a-days, a country with more number of modern weapons, army and technology is said to be more powerful. Now, weapons have replaced the power of knowledge. Had it not been so, we would have not been talking about the possibility of a third World-War. In-spite of India being the land of such knowledgeable dignitaries, noble laureates and great scientists, it is still counted in the column of developing nations. Doesn’t it contradict the importance of knowledge?
Besides, everyone is lamenting for eternal happiness, as if it has vanished from our lives. No-one seems happy these days. The clouds of Desolation, depression , irritation, agitation and discontentment surrounds every individual in one way or the other. It would never have happened if each of us had realized the true power of knowledge- spiritual knowledge as it is the root of happiness , a cure for all the above mentioned problems.
Let us help ourselves reach greater heights and ultimately help this world reach beyond cloud nine, and this can only be achieved by realizing and using the power of a weapon which will do no harm to the mankind rather it would help them live their lives to its fullest. The weapon is none other than KNOWLEDGE.!!
So readers, trust yourself. Create the kind of life you will be happy to live all your life. Make the most of yourself by fanning the tiny, inner sparks of possibility into the flames of achievement, which you achieve through the power of knowledge.
