Manage Anger, Live Longer!

Anger is a state of mind that leads us to do undesirable actions and use inappropriate language. Every one of us must have been angry when we are mistreated or bullied but it harms us when our anger gets out of control.  Anger not only disturbs our mental peace but also makes our life unstable and may affect our relationships. It happens when we are unable to handle deflecting moods, pressure of difficulties or when we are unable to tolerate other’s opinions and judgements on our way of thinking and living.

Anger management is very important from the point of view of a healthy mind since when our mind is unstable and behaviour uncontrollable, we tend to destroy our emotional as well as physical health. Aristotle said –“Anybody can become angry- that is easy, but to be angry with the right person to the right degree and at the right time and for the right purpose, and in the right way- that is not within everybody’s power and is not easy”.

We can easily become angry on anything that irritates us and when we hold on to anger, it somewhere burns us from inside. So we achieve no goal by getting angry, neither we are at peace with ourselves by venting out our anger nor the person who becomes our target when we are angry. So it is very important that we try to manage our anger and keep it to a considerable level that doesn’t hurt others and our own peace of mind.

WAYS FOR ANGER MANAGEMENT:

1.Take a break and move away when angry

When you realize that something is irritating you and making you upset, get away from that place for some time and take a break till you calm down and you’re anger is gone. It is very important to move away so that your state of mind becomes stable and you regain your happy mood once again.

2. Practise positive self-talk

Positivity is very important in our life since when anger gets out of control, it has negative impacts on us and on others too. So it is necessary that you practise positive self-talk to decrement the negative impact of anger. When you start positive self-talk, every situation however difficult or irritating it might be, keeps your mind calm.

3. Breathing Deeply

When you feel that anger is getting out of control, don’t let it burst. Instead take a deep breath and try to lessen your anger that is disturbing your mood and mental peace. Taking a deep breath will make your heart beats normal which rages at times of anger. While managing anger, you are managing your health to a great extent.

4. Diverting mind by indulging in work

Sometimes it becomes very important to divert our mind so that it come backs to its normal behaviour and also makes life stable. Anger threatens our normal behaviour so it is very essential that we indulge ourselves in some work and divert our mind from those things and people that are irritating us.

5. Try to Calm down and Control your Anger

It is very difficult to control anger but it is not impossible. If we try to control our anger, first we have to trust ourselves that we can remain calm however tough times and people we experience. This way we can try our best to not lose our temper on others and have a control check on our anger.

6. Playing any Sport or Exercising

The moment we stat realizing that something is making us angry, we should leave that particular work and involve ourselves in some sort of exercise or sports. This way our whole attention goes towards the sport or exercising and slowly we calm down and our anger goes away from our mind.

7. Try to remember Happy Moments from Past

One way of anger management is trying to remember those moments of our life which made us happy and have become our precious memories. When we remember our happy days, our anger level comes down and we free our mind from the trap of anger.

8. Think, then Speak

When we are angry, we often say things that we regret later in our life. We can only regret it but never correct it so we should always try to think before we speak. If something is making you angry, allow yourself to calm down and then converse with anyone. This way you will be able to keep your relationships good and strong.
