If you are struggling for, mourning over or are tired of wanting something so bad and are just about to give up on it, then hold on. Take a moment to read this, it might help you.
“And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don’t believe in magic will never find it.”
~ Roald Dahl
These are one of my all-time favorite lines, beautiful, kindling, whimsical and oh so inspiring! To a pessimist these will look like utter rubbish. What magic, get to the real world they will scream, whereas a realistic will take these as fooling and deluding. As far as I’m concerned, I risk myself sounding naïve but I like to call myself an optimist, and hopeful, and that pretty much works well for me. Not in getting all that I want but to make through a difficult day and to crossover a rough patch, happily and peacefully. I think there is grace and rectitude hidden in everything. We just need to open our eyes to it and believe in it sometimes.
Life isn’t everything we want it to be. Maybe it’s far less than what you expected or maybe it is way beyond your imagination. It is not a walk over the clouds or a rocky terrain but a perfect blend of both of these. It has ways of finding you and knocking you down but it also has its own ways to grant you the happiness that you deserve and have worked hard for.
In many a situations when we don’t see our dreams coming true or the things not going our way we are forced to take it by heart, to get depressed. It is also fair on some level. You put in all you efforts to get a particular assignment at job but at the last minute it was given to somebody else. You made special efforts to please your parents or your friends but those efforts didn’t get noticed or appreciated by them. Or the person you have loved since always fails to see that love and instead they decide to be with somebody else. Such moments are heart breaking and they have got immense potential to shatter us. They can convince you to stop putting an effort or stop hoping for goodness as it all goes to square one. But if you keep looking for reasons to give up you will always find plenty of them. And if you decide to look past all the shortcomings and the liabilities and hold on for your dear life then you will get even more reasons to cherish it and be amazed by it.
There is magic in this world, you just need to see it, to believe in it. You need to believe in the goodness of people, believe in art, in music, even sports or whatever your hobbies are. Whatever excites you and thrills you, have faith in it. It will someday take you places and help you in becoming a better person, a noble person.
We all have dreams and ambitions. We all have plans about how we want our life, our career or our relationships to be. But life has a million ways to fail us. We have got the plan ruled out and all set but then Bam! We are proved wrong and inadequate and inefficient. And now you are broken and have fallen short of being a great person or accomplishing what you aimed for and you can get all sad and demotivated but then one day you read a book, watch a movie or see an innocent child smiling and suddenly you want to be credulous about it all over again, you want to believe in hopes and dreams, in love and faith. You are again sanguine about the existence of an Utopian place where everything is alluring and perfect and that this Utopian place is not very far from your reach. You just have to work a little more and hang on.
Having dreams and aims give our life a direction. Working towards them gives it a purpose. And it doesn’t take luck or fate to reach where you want to be but all it takes is sincere hard work. And when you get exhausted of doing that hard work or putting in that effort and you are not really seeing any positive results or getting nearer to your dreams then you can use a little hope. You can have a little faith that good things will come around and the odds will be in your favor. When your senses and the worldly knowledge tell you to stop hoping for something remember that miracles do happen. “You never know where the next miracle is going to come from, the next smile, the next wish come true. But if you believe that it is right around the corner and you open your heart to the possibility of it, to the certainty of it, you just might get the thing you are wishing for.”
