While watching the movie “pursuit of happiness” there were a lot of questions that came to my mind regarding the dreams we always keep talking about. Most of the people I really have come across have some kind of dreams or vision. Some talk about it openly and quite enthusiastically about their dreams and how they want to follow it and some people are quite reluctant to talk about their dreams in front of others. They are quite embarrassed to let other people know about their dreams because they think people will laugh at them or they might be dreaming too high or too low. Dreams are not those which let you sleep at night rather dreams are those which take your sleep away. Dreams are those driving forces which drive you to your future, to your destiny so you can’t really afford to let go off your dream.
As Euginia Herlihy has aptly said “To dream is to have your own world you created in your mind but you have to unleash that world to the real world for everyone to benefit from it and also for your own benefit to grow and succeed”. When it comes to realizing our dreams and accomplishing our goals there are many aspects that certainly deserves our attention. But before we delve into it we must ask ourselves these questions first “What is my dream? Will I achieve my dream in my lifetime or not? Will i actually follow my dreams? What odds do i give myself? One in five? One in hundred? One in thousand or one in million? What are my chances? Am I willing to put my dream to a test? Many people often get confused with this dream thing; they often confuse it with material dreams, romantic dreams, idealistic dreams, destination dreams, and career dreams rather dreams are those which plants a seed of possibility in our souls and makes us pursue a unique path for actual fulfillment of our goals. Basically a dream is an inspiring picture of future that empowers your mind, will power and emotions so that you can put all of your true potentiality to achieve it. A dream worth pursuing is an actual blueprint of where you are and what your real potentialities are and how you will achieve your dream.
In the book “Rich Dad, Poor Dad” Robert Kiyosaki has said “To spend your life living in fear, never exploring your dreams is cruel. To work hard for money, thinking that it will buy you things that will make you happy is also cruel. To wake up in the middle of night terrified about paying bills is a horrible way to live. To live a life dictated by the size of a paycheck is not really living a life. Thinking that a job makes you secure is lying to yourself. That’s cruel and that’s a trap I want you to avoid”. What kind of life do you dream about? How do you see yourself in the future? Do you see positive changes across the entire span of your life? Do you see yourself being healthier, wealthier and wiser? Are you willing to move towards your dream to transform it into a reality? And if there is a positive remark you have for each of the question above then it is exactly the kind of dream you should follow. Your dreams should be something that should not only benefit you rather it should be for the greater good. It should also contribute to the betterment of our society we dwell in. Our dreams should be something that doesn’t only makes us contented it should also equally make others contented too.
If you really want to go ahead with your dreams then there are definitely some aspects you should take care of. Having” clarity of thoughts” first is quite important. Before you take a plunge into our dream you should be clear about your requirements. You should have a detailed description in mind about your dreams and how you want to fulfill it and where you are going to proceed in the due course of time. After having a clear picture of your thoughts it’s time to” take action”. Now it’s time that you begin to move forward. You need to focus on your approach with caution in order to achieve your intended result. Of course on your way everything is not going to happen as anticipated you may have to make a lot of adjustments and you should also be flexible enough so that you can make minor changes in your set plan when situation demands and move a step closer to your dream and last but not the least you have to attract your dreams towards you. It means instead of visualizing your dreams visualize yourself to be actually performing all the duties that are in your dream like suppose you envision yourself having a very beautiful house. So instead of just dreaming of owning it imagine you actively live in the house, do your daily chores and are completely at home.
Following your dreams will not only help you achieve what you want it will also make you experience things that never you could have imagined. Following your dreams will make you courageous. You will become an inspiration to those around you. You will realize the incredible potentialities that you possess. You will start liking yourself more and life will automatically become beautiful.
Lastly I would quote what Will Smith said in the movie “The pursuit of happyness” – “You got a dream, you got to protect it. People can’t do something themselves, they want to tell you that you can’t do it. You want something? Go get it… period.”
